KET, PET, FCE, CAE & CPE QUALIFICATIONS

ILS Global International Language Schools encourage all students to prepare for: 1) KET (Key English Test), 2) PET (Preliminary English Test ), 3) FCE (First Certificate in English), 4) CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) and 5) CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) qualifications. ILS Global provides students with all they need to obtain these qualifications as quickly as possible.

These qualifications form part of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and are recognised by over 8,500 universities, employers and government departments around the world. Objectives of these qualifications are:

1) KET (Key English Test): Understand, and use everyday expressions and basic phrases. Introduce yourself and answer basic questions about your personal details. Interact with English speakers who talk slowly and clearly. (CEFR Level: A2)

2) PET (Preliminary English Test): Understand the main points of straightforward instructions or public announcements. Deal with most of the situations you might meet when travelling as a tourist in an English-speaking country. Ask simple questions and take part in factual conversations in a work environment. Write letters and make notes on familiar matters. (CEFR Level: B1)

3) FCE (First Certificate in English): Understand the main ideas of complex pieces of writing. Keep up a conversation on a fairly wide range of topics, expressing opinions and presenting arguments. Produce clear, detailed writing, expressing opinions and explaining the advantages and disadvantages of different points of view. (CEFR Level: B2)

4) CAE (Certificate in Advanced English): Read quickly enough to cope with an academic course. Understand complex opinions. Produce clear, well structured and detailed pieces of writing. Express yourself well with a good degree of fluency. Use English flexibly for social, professional and academic purposes. (CEFR Level: C1)

5) CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English): Understand with ease virtually everything you hear and read. Make accurate and complete notes during a presentation. Understand colloquial asides. Talk about complex and sensitive issues without awkwardness. Express yourself precisely and fluently. (CEFR Level: C2)
